Join us in welcoming Dr. Linda Abdelsayed to the ACTS team!

This summer Dr. Abdelsayed will be teaching “Psychology of Family” this course will provide students with an overview of the field of family psychology. The four primary areas of study include: 1) several family theory frameworks from which to understand families, 2) the family life cycle, and 3) interventions to improve behavioral, developmental and emotional health among individuals and between family members across the lifespan. Students will also 4) apply these concepts to their own family of origin, for in order to help others, a counselor must first know oneself (Matthew 7:4).

Linda Abdelsayed, PsyD has been a California Licensed Psychologist since 2013. She received her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in family psychology from Azusa Pacific University. During her doctorate program, her training focused on working with children to older adults struggling with chronic and severe mental illness. Later in her career, she taught as an adjunct professor for undergraduate and graduate psychology at APU. Additionally, she served as a staff clinical psychologist for APU’s University Counseling Center for 8 years. Her areas of clinical interest include faith integration, identity formation, diversity and multicultural studies, couple’s premarital counseling, and symptom reduction through mindfulness and coping. Her seminal published work is The Impact of Personality on God Image, Religious Coping and Religious Motivation among Coptic Orthodox priests.
